There is a company in Canada that has recently announced the steps it is taking to recycle plastic that would otherwise be found clogging up landfills all over the place. Now we know plastic can be recycled, but did you know you might be able to buy a pair of gardening gloves made from plastic?
They don’t sound too comfortable do they, but in actual fact the processes used to recycle them mean you wouldn’t be able to tell them apart from any other pair of gloves you might buy from anywhere else. And the company reports that each glove equates to one bottle. So basically the more gloves they can make, that same number of bottles is saved from filling up the local landfill.
It is good news and a great example of how innovation can recycle many different things. But it doesn’t stop there. The company has also made it their job to recycle the plastic into other items for use in the garden. Water butts have also been created from this process to recycle plastics.
You can do more in the UK too to make sure you use recycled products. Take a look online – you will find several companies that sell recycled products that are designed for use in the garden. Have a think about all the things you need to buy for this year, and see if there are any recycled versions that could work just as well.
