Do You Need Long Reach Hedge Trimmers?

If you have got a hedge in your garden that is in constant need of trimming, it could be time to invest in a proper pair of hedge trimmers to get the job done more easily. But it is important to make sure you get the right set for the job, otherwise you could end up with something that isn’t quite as good as you thought it would be.

One main feature of the hedge trimmer market today is the long reach set of hedge trimmers. These are invaluable if you struggle to reach the top of a particularly tall hedge. Some people end up getting a stepladder out to stand on while they cut the top of the hedge with a smaller pair. But this is not ideal for several reasons.

Firstly the ground you set up the stepladder on is unlikely to be level, even if you have a superb lawn that doesn’t dip anywhere. This means you can end up being rather unsteady before you even start trying to cut the hedge itself. Secondly you can still find it difficult to get the right angle to cut the hedge. You’ve also got the task of constantly having to move the stepladder to get to where you need to be.

You can see then that the long reach hedge trimmers will make the job easier as well as safer. You can use them while standing on the ground and you’ll be able to simply move along as and when you need to, without having to move anything in the process.

Long reach hedge trimmers can also be useful for trimming trees to some extent. Obviously they are not designed to lop off branches, but if you have a tree that has a lot of foliage you can certainly trim off the unnecessary parts you don’t want in no time at all. It is also much easier to reach the areas you want to trim back, just as it is with bushes and hedges.

In short, before you go and buy a brand new hedge trimmer, consider whether a long reach one would serve you better. Take a fresh look at your garden and see which model would be best for your own situation. Long reach ones may be a little more expensive but they are certainly a lot easier to use in the long run.
